Henry of Blois (c.1100-1171)

Henry of Blois was born around AD1100 at Blois Castle, Blois (France).

He was:

Prior of Montacute,

Abbot of Glastonbury,

and Bishop of Winchester.

He died on the 8th August 1171 at Wolvesey Palace, Winchester (England).

Winchester Cathedral will be holding a celebration of his life from June the first to the seventh (June 1-7 2009). The exibition is being put together by BA History students from the University of Southampton. This will feature some of my photographs of St Cross Hospital, Winchester, of which Henry was a patron.
Thanks to Tom Moore
